Are you waiting for an appointment at a Gender Clinic?

We have received this message from Maya Amin-Smith. Are you able to help her? "My name is Maya and I’m writing to you from Proper Content, a television production company. I wanted to get in touch with members of the Beaumont Society because I am in the research stages of a documentary film for the BBC that will look at the experience of young trans people dealing with long NHS waiting times and limited resources during transition.

At this stage in the project I am looking to speak to as many people as possible to find out more about the impact of these waiting times and the effect it can have on young trans people. I’d love to have a chat with people stuck in the queue - particularly young people - to find out more about the issues involved and the emotions that you experience."

If you are able to help you can contact Maya at:  mailto:maya.aminsmith@propercontent.com

I have been waiting 4yrs, found out after 2 yrs my doctor had forgot to forward it, still waiting for Charing Cross. Feel like I am not very important, is it my age 77yrs old?

    Hi Susan,
Maya is actually researching the impact on young people of the horrendously long waiting lists at all the gender clinics. You are right in many ways that it is very difficult for older people, too. The needs of trans people does not seem to be a high priority for our government, and is likely to slip further down the list of priorities as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions and demands on resources. We must stick together and support one another.
