Beaumont Mentoring and Coaching Program – Click here for more details

I am pleased to announce the Beaumont Mentoring and Coaching Program

Kay Holmes has agreed to be the first point of contact for this initiative. We have had some success in recent years in helping less experienced members, to build their confidence, assist with all aspects of Trans life and in some cases the members we've helped are now more confident and go out in public as their authentic selves.

How does it work, see below:

Mentoring and Coaching

Mentoring: The Definition
A mentor is someone who shares their knowledge, skills and/or experience, to help another to develop and grow.

Coaching: The Definition
A coach is someone who provides guidance to a person on their goals and helps them reach their full potential.

So what’s it all about:

Kay Holmes is the first point of contact for members who would like Mentoring, assistance, advice and coaching.

This could before example, advice on makeup, dress sense and fashion or it could be a member wanting assistance and help building their confidence as they would like to go out in public for the first time, accompanied by a more experienced member.

The aim is to help the mentee (a person who is advised, trained, or guided by a mentor.) via education, help and calling on the experiences of the mentor.

How does it work

  • The member requiring Mentoring should send a Private message on the Beaumont site, or send an email to, Kay Holmes. Kaye email address is: kholmestg@gmail.com

  • Kay will contact the Regional Organiser where the member requiring Mentoring lives, for example if the member lives in Devon then Kay will contact Paula Taylor, the R.O. for the South West Region. If the member requiring lives in Scotland then Kay would contact Karen Cobham, the R.O. for Scotland.

  • The local R.O, of the member requiring Mentoring and/or Coaching will then contact the member to see what help is needed. This may be an email, a phone call or even a meeting in person. The member may meet the R.O. or person designated by the R.O. in person but may wish to meet in man mode (also known as in drab). This is perfectly fine as the initial meeting would enable the R.O. gain more information from the member / mentee to see what help can be given.

  • Once contact has been established the R.O. or designated person by the R.O (the Mentor) should schedule regular meetings, if required, with the member needing help (the Mentee). As a guideline follow up contact should be made via email/call/meeting within a month. Then any subsequent contact should be at most at monthly intervals until the member (the mentee) is happy his/her mentoring/coaching has fulfilled their needs. This could be that the Mentor has accompanied the Mentee on a shopping trip, a trip to a café or could be that advice on dress sense and makeup has been successfully completed.

  • The Mentor should report back to Kay Holmes once Mentoring/Coaching has been completed with the Mentee. This would include a summary of what action was taken and how much progress has been made. This enables the Beaumont Society to learn about what works well and maybe not so well so we can make the Mentoring and Coaching program as successful as possible.
