I'm Bethan Islam, a queer counselling psychology trainee at London Metropolitan University currently researching for my thesis that will see my 4 year Doctorate complete.
My body of work is exploring the experience of the partners of transgender individuals who transition during the relationship.
The aim of my research is to deepen the understanding of the experience of being partnered with someone who is trans, to take individuals out of the role of educating clinicians, to contribute to the minimal literature and eventually influence how psychologists support partners of transgender people by informing guidelines and developing appropriate, high quality professional support.
I am now recruiting participants who are people who would be willing to share their stories in a 30 minute - 1 hour conversation with me in person or via zoom, anyone who takes part will receive a £15 Amazon voucher, please see my research advert attached for details.
