Please can you help this research student?

If you know anyone who might be able to help with this research project, please forward this message to them.

My name is Gill, I’m a student on the doctorate of counselling psychology programme at Glasgow Caledonian Uni and I’m reaching out to some support services to see if you might be able or willing to support my research project.

I’m hoping to complete a qualitative study around the impact of intimate partner violence and help-seeking behaviours for IPV in transgender men. My supervisor is well-versed in research into IPV, and his focus has until now been on cisgender, heterosexual men. His research has looked at the impact of social norms and hegemonic masculinity in men’s experiences of IPV and includes recommendations for services who support survivors. I think it’s important that other groups are also represented in this work, so thought I would do similar research but focusing on transgender men. My supervisor’s most recent publication can be found here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/capr.12409 My hope is that I can carry this research on for the rest of my doctoral studies and into the future with a particular focus on LGBT individuals and how they experience intimate partner violence. I’ll be focusing on interviewing adults, so those over the age of 18, who live in the UK. The study has received ethical approval from Glasgow Caledonian University, and proof of this, along with other documents including information sheets, consent forms and recruitment adverts, can be provided.

I’m aware of the extensive work that your organisation does in supporting transgender individuals, and I was wondering if you might be able to assist me in advertising to find participants for this research? Alternatively, do you know of any other services I could contact for support in this?

My email address is: ghope300@caledonian.ac.uk

Thanks

Gill Hope
