Research into people’s thoughts about the Gender Recognition Act

We have received this request from Mollie Gascoigne who is a PhD Researcher at the University of Exeter Law School.

"In summer 2019 I conducted a pilot study, looking into the GRA 2004, using a survey (open to all those identifying as trans) and interviews (with those identifying as non-binary). The project went well and there were some really promising results. I am now conducting the full-scale PhD Project and seeking to gather as many responses as possible in order for the project to have the greatest impact."

As you will probably be aware, there was a government consultation into proposals for reform of the Gender Recognition Act during 2018, and despite the proposals being quite modest it generated considerable opposition from a small minority of people.
