Speech Therapy Research

One of the many difficulties that trans women face is sounding like a woman. We have received a request from a speech therapy student called Nigel who is engaged in an approved research project. Please help him if you can:

"I am a final year speech therapy student at the University of Sheffield. As an LGBT person, I wish to improve the community's experience with healthcare. I am researching on LGBT people's experience with speech therapy and transgender/non-binary people's experience with voice therapy in the UK, with the aim to improve their experience with speech therapy. Your help would be greatly appreciated and contribute to a preliminary study on the UK population.

Do you identify as transgender or non-binary?

Or, are you an LGBT+ person who have had speech therapy (after the age of 18) or have accompanied someone to speech therapy?

If your answer is yes, you are invited to take part in a short, anonymous online survey, which asks about your experience with speech therapy and/or transgender voice and communication change.

It should take around 5 minutes to complete the survey. If you are interested in taking part, please follow this link: https://sprw.io/stt-99efa5 for the survey and more information about the study. "
