New Gender Clinic Opening in Wales

The new Welsh Gender Clinic will start seeing patients in September. The new service will consist of a multi-disciplinary Welsh Gender Team, Local Gender Teams in each health board and Directed Enhanced Service  to improve support in primary care.

The new Welsh Gender Team will be based in St David’s Hospital in Cardiff, and will start seeing patients soon, as part of an incremental implementation of the new service.

The Welsh Gender Team began a period of engagement in July and August with key stakeholders and the All Wales Gender Identity Partnership Board, to ensure that the service meets the needs of the trans community in Wales.

The Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will also include further information about the service on their websites.

Minister for Health and Social Services, Vaughan Gething said:

"Establishing the new Welsh Gender Service is the first step in enabling people to access services closer to home. We are committed to continue to engage with our stakeholders as the new service evolves."
